Year of the Water Snake: What to Expect in 2013, Part 1

What to Expect in 2013

The year of the water snake begins February 4, 2013.  It comes once every 60 years! The following energies in the eight directions, will be felt by occupants, this year, if you are: sleeping to any of the directions described below, walking in and out of doors facing those directions, work facing those directions, your stove knobs face that direction and you cook a lot, spending long periods of time sitting down facing these directions and if your home or business faces that direction.

This year all the energies that are visiting in their respective directions are right at home so the effect will be doubly indicated.  In the southeast the annual “4” energy visits, indicating lots of romance, travelling, moving, publicity, writing and publishing.  In the south, the “9” energy visits, indicating, great diplomacy, promotions, celebrations, weddings, good for spiritual development, mind power, meditation; great for jewelry designers, chefs, restaurant owners, interior designer and people in cosmetics.

In the southwest, the “2” energy visits, indicating, health problems, particularly in the stomach, digestive organs, reproductive organs and mid-section of the body. It can also indicate people experiencing depression, difficulty in pregnancy, children being ill, skin problems and an overly aggressive females. If you're utilizing this direction in the ways mentioned above and begin experiencing these issues, consider moving your bed, placing a metal wind chime at the door, or changing directions that you face when working or sitting down.

The West is visited by the “7” energy, indicating, business deals falling through at the last minute, people owing you money and not paying you back, things being taken away, people stealing ideas and/or intellectual property and can also literally steal from you. If you begin to experience any of the above consider moving your bed, using different doors or facing different directions to mitigate the negative effects.

The Northeast is visited by the “8” energy which is amazing for money, noble people, honor, loyalty, good behavior, wealth and accumulation of assets. If you have a front door that faces this direction or another heavily used door and/or sleeping to this direction, it'll be a fantastic year for money!

The North is visited by the “1” energy, indicating, intelligence, money, wisdom, academic success, sensuality, and success in writing. If you have a front door or sleeping to this direction it'll be a good year for money too.

The Northwest is visited by the “6” energy, indicating, a year of working hard for your money, good for career and authority, and will receive the needed support. This energy is benevolent.

The Feng Shui of LA: .The Real Deal on the Celebrity Popoulation

Is it a coincidence that there are so many famous people in L.A., or could it be the Feng Shui of the city?

Besides the amazing weather that L.A. has to offer, here’s the skinny on why celebs are spotted in droves in the land of dreams, and why so many become famous.

Some homes have special energy charts—based on the facing direction and move-in date—and when they’re activated with a water feature and a real or virtual mountain (landscape boulders, retaining walls, solid fence, etc.) it can bring incredible amounts of money, fame, career luck, successful relationships, and good health.

Every single home based on the direction it faces and when the occupants moved in, has an energy chart, referred to as a Flying Stars Chart in the Classical Feng Shui world. This tells us anything and everything that will happen to the people living there. We’re talking money, relationships, and health. Some homes have an extra special chart that can bring fame, fortune, and great wealth in all it’s forms to the occupants.

L.A. happens to have an abundance of these charts because of the coordinates of the grid that the actual city is built on, as well as the surrounding areas.

For example, in West Hollywood, homes that face East and people that moved in or did major renovations in their homes after 2004 have the fame energy. In Santa Monica, if you moved in or did major renovations after 2004, regardless of what direction your home faces, it has a special chart.

These charts need to be activated to really benefit the people living there, but most of the time they are naturally initiated in the environment. Depending on which chart you have, you may need water in the front or back or a mountain in the front or back.

Roads act as virtual water and buildings can act as virtual mountains. Which means that a lot of people living in these homes that have these special charts are naturally being energized, hence all the famous people in these areas.

I discuss this further on my appearance on HGTV’s, Selling LA in more detail, so stay tuned for air dates. It’s coming out this fall!

Top 10 Feng Shui Myths Debunked!

Feng Shui has surpassed the test of time, for the past 5,000 years.

When used properly it can enhance the human experience encompassing wealth, relationships and health. It is a common sense approach to living a life in harmony with your environment and by doing so, achieving your goals.

The practice is based on an actual science. It’s not a new age fad, religion, superstition or watered-down quick fix.

Business moguls like Donald Trump, Steve Wynn, Richard Branson, Bill Gates and companies like Chase Bank, Wells Fargo and Disney also use Classical Feng Shui. Can you picture Donald Trump hanging crystals or bamboo flutes in Trump Towers? No. That’s why most of what you read and see about Feng Shui is not accurate.

These are some of the most common myths you will read about or see:
Having a table fountain will not bring you wealth. You’ll be waiting 50 years for the money to come. Large water features that are at least 4 ft. or higher can bring wealth when they’re located well. Some homes can have water in the front, back, sides or corners. It depends on when you moved in, how much remodeling you’ve done and the direction your home faces. Hire a professional before putting in a water feature because depending on where it’s located it can be beneficial (windfalls of money, raises, consistent increase in money year after year, etc.) or disastrous (unjust payouts to IRS, divorce, cancer, etc.).

House numbers will not help you have better Feng Shui. In real Feng Shui the address has no effect on the overall energy of the home. However in China, for superstitious reasons, the Chinese avoid homes with the number 4. This is because in Chinese, the number four is similar to death. Much like we think “Friday the 13th” is unlucky, the Chinese believe homes with a number 4 in the address are unlucky too.

Feng Shui plants will not bring creativity, birth or regeneration. Plants have no credence on how they will affect the energy in your home or business. Having a plant next to you while you sleep or work will help absorb any negative energy that you have accumulated. That is not Feng Shui, that is scientific.

Feng Shui chachkis are just that: knick-knacks. Things like toads with coins in them, purple pillows, paintings, fu dogs, etc. will not change the energy in your home. These are inanimate objects that the Eastern world uses as symbols to represent protection, wealth and harmony. Westerners took these objects and coined them as Feng Shui.

Feng Shui for cats and dogs is not real. It will do nothing in lieu of helping your pets. Feng Shui was developed with human energy in mind. If your home is properly Feng Shui’d your animals will certainly feel the effects of it.

The Western Ba Gua is not part of authentic Feng Shui. This includes recognition/fame, helpful people, family/health, wealth/prosperity, career prospects, education, children and marriage prospects. It is not how it was meant to be used. I know this comes as a shock to most, but this is too simplistic. It assumes every single door faces the same way in a home and that every single person is exactly the same. From a common sense perspective, if we all “activated” our recognition/fame corner, we would all be famous. We’re not all famous.

Ba Gua mirrors should never be used indoors. Ba Gua mirrors were meant for outdoor use, only to help mitigate negative energy (sha chi). There are many more productive ways to change negative energy that is affecting the outside of a home or building.

Small crystals will not help your home have better Feng Shui. If you want to really feel the effects of crystals, large crystal geodes at least 3 ft. or higher would have to be strategically placed in order to really change the energy in a home or business. Small crystals are great for personal healing and use, but there’s no need to hang them in your home because it’s not big enough to impact the energy of a space.

The five elements don’t need to be represented in every single room in your home. This is ridiculous, and also exhausting to try and execute. Elements in real Feng Shui represent characteristics of how energy behaves. It’s not meant to be literal.

Bamboo flutes do nothing in terms of Feng Shui. They’re bamboo. It sounds good in theory, since bamboo is strong, that it can create strength and support. In my experience, no one has ever truly gained anything from their use.

This is a short list of some of the most common Feng Shui misconceptions. You’ll always find a lot of superstition interwoven into what people claim is Feng Shui. Bottom line, if it doesn’t make sense, it’s not common sense or it’s outlandish, it’s not Feng Shui.

National and Global Predictions for 2012
It's official the year of the water dragon begins February 4th! On this day the energy officially changes over. We use the solar calendar, because it is more accurate in Feng Shui, than the lunar calendar.
Weather
The Southeastern part of the United States may be affected by flooding, earthquakes, and any natural disasters that involve land and water. The Southeastern part of the world, Asia, may be affected by tsunamis, typhoons, earthquakes and any natural disasters that involve land and water. Agriculture and farming will thrive.
The Economy
The economy will continue to improve at a slower rate. However, it will be slow-moving because the focus of this year's energy is on water, (water dragon) and typically occur in years which people have a lot of fear. The economic rebound won't be as quick as economist would hope for. With a lot of the focus on the world's economy, the fear will fuel the international and national financial markets to slow down.
Successful Industries
Wood and Earth Related Industries that will thrive: Education, Philosophy, Social Services, Medicine, Pharmaceuticals, Print Media, Publishing, Bookstores, Farming, Agriculture, Textiles, Fashion, Technicians, Musicians, Broadcast Announcers, Property, Real Estate, Construction, Earthenware, Consultancy, Hotel, Insurance, Architecture, Interior Design, Pottery, Recruitment, Quarry, HR, Handyman, Farmer, OB-GYN, Monks and Clergymen.

If the Feng Shui is not good in the homes of 2 and 8 Life Gua individuals, be careful with the stomach, bones, joints, spine and skeletal system. There may be an unusually high number of epidemics such as the flu and viruses affecting the lungs and the brain.
People That May be Adversely Affected
While the Year of the Dragon happens every 12 years, the Year of the Water Dragon happens only every 60 years! This means those born in 1952 are coming up on a very significant year--with a mix of blessings and challenges all at once. Those born in the Year of the Rat or Monkey will also have set-backs and misfortune mixed with startling successes. To ensure a great year, make sure your Feng Shui is adjusted for the coming energy. Those born in the Year of the Dog may experience challenges and setbacks this year.
Positive Aspects
The world is not coming to an end! This year may bring a focus to increased spirituality and metaphysical related activities. It'll be a good year financially for 3 and 4 Life Guas, if they have good Feng Shui.
Scandals
This year the focus will be on government. With the upcoming elections, it's no wonder that the energy matches the political climate of this country. Watch out for tons of governmental scandals to come to the surface. Military leaders, political leaders, CEO's presidents and other leaders of major organizations may all be on display too, with interesting information leaking out to the press and media.
Political Climate
With this year's focus on politics and the military, expect other wars to break out in other parts of the world particularly in the Southeast Asian territory of the world. The war in the Middle East will come to an end but another war could be on the horizon in the Southeastern part of the world.

Year of the Water Dragon: What to Expect in 2012

Annual Energies for the Year of the Water Dragon

The year of the Water Dragon begins February 4, 2012 (the Solar/Hsia Calendar). However, the Chinese celebrate it on January 23rd (Lunar Calendar). In the north, the "sickness" energy visits; if you‟re prone to stomach, reproductive, digestive or any other issues in the mid-section of the body place metal there.

In the East, the "travelling and romance" energy visits which is good for romance, scholarly pursuits, writing and travelling. It can also indicate that you will be moving this year. If you have an East facing door, sleep to the East or your home faces the East this will be a good year to meet a new lover and is also good for getting a book published. This excellent, especially if you have your bedroom located in the East. If single, this will give you the opportunity to attract a mate into your life.

The "trouble maker" energy visits the Southeast, in the New Year. This is the worst known energy to visit and if activated indicates problems with money, relationships and health.
This energy is not strong in the Southeast and will only affect individuals with Southeast facing doors, homes or sleeping to the Southeast. It is only recommended that you place metal there if you‟re experiencing difficulties.

The West is visited by the "money" energy, which means it‟ll be a good year to make a lot of money if your home faces west, you have a west facing front door or you‟re sleeping to the west.
The "future money luck" energy visits the Northeast, indicating future wealth, such as non-liquid assets like investments in the stock market, 401 (k), IRA‟s and also indicates career/work related promotions. It also is indicative of celebrations, such as weddings.

The South is visited by more "money" energy which is good for cash flow, intellect and sexual energy. This energy will be especially good for steamy love affairs.

The Southwest is visited by the "fighting" energy and is quite strong this year. If activated this

energy indicates gossiping, fighting, arguments and lawsuits. Place metal in these areas if you‟re experiencing these issues. If not, leave it alone as metal can weaken the prosperity energy.

The Northwest is visited by the "robber and the thief" energy. This indicates that homes that

face the Northwest, or if you live in a home that has an exterior door that faces the Northwest or you are sleeping to the Northwest, it can indicate people not paying you money they owe you, business deals falling through at the last minute, people literally taking from you and health issues that are related to the breast, mouth and teeth. If the overall Feng Shui of your home is good, you will not be affected by this energy.

These energies can be "activated" by having a door located in these sectors, sleeping to these directions, bedrooms located in these sectors, the stove knobs activating these sectors known as the "fire mouth," digging into the earth in these sectors, water features such as pools and fountains, and fire elements such as large televisions, fireplaces or outdoor kitchens.

Apart from annual energies that visit, there are also directions that are considered inauspicious for the year because of the evil influences that they can exert. It is best to not activate these sectors or directions in any way to avoid negative influences in your life, which would affect all aspects of health, wealth and relationships adversely. In 2012, the entire South sector of your home, inside and outside, and the first fifteen degrees of Southwest (202.6-217.5) and the last fifteen degrees of Southeast (142.6-157.5) should not be activated at all. This includes digging up the earth, construction, renovations, additions, water features, or anything that would disturb the ground, like sprinklers. These energies are known as Sam Sart or "three killings."

Also, in 2012, the Northwest (292.6-307.5) is being visited by the Sui Po or "year breaker." It is also advised to not engage in new construction of a building that sits on the Sui Po (the back of the building faces Northwest); it is not good to do any type of construction. The "trouble maker" energy is visiting the Southeast and it is best to leave the Southeast sector of your home, inside and outside, alone this year. The Southeast (112.6-127.5) should not be disturbed as well because the Tai Sui or the "grand duke" visits this sector. It is said that you can sit with your back to this energy but not face it. It is also advised that construction in a building that faces the Tai Sui is not done. This energy is inauspicious and can bring a lot of problems for the owners of the building and the people working on the building, such as injuries and lawsuits.

Is your Home Making you Broke?

Do you work hard and find it difficult to hold onto your money?
Consider this: maybe it’s the energy in your home that is depleting your wealth. The modern day world has deprived a lot of us of our inherent birth rights– trusting ourselves. We all have the ability within us to knowwhat is good for us and what is bad. Making sense of where we live has a lot to do with our intuitive “hits” and listening. If it doesn’t feel right, look right or seem right, chances are it probably isn’t going to be.

Our environment is a reflection of where we are in that moment of time. Sometimes people will attract a home or business because they must live out an experience that they need to learn from. At the end of the day, you have everything that you need to ensure that you are well taken care of. By getting quiet, listening and waiting the truth will reveal itself.

Just in case, here’s some examples of properties that may indicate difficulty with money and what you can do:

Extreme slopes or sharp drop-offs on your property indicate unstable money and life. Without the protection of a high retaining wall your wealth will quickly slip away.

Homes that back to a body of water (including a river, like the Los Angeles river), in general, are not beneficial for most occupants. Water is the ultimate wealth secret in Feng Shui. When properly placed it can bring a lot of wealth luck. Improperly placed water, on the other hand, can cause missed opportunities, insolvency, illness, drug addiction, sexual misconduct, scandal and other serious situations. In Feng Shui, the water needs to be seen from the front that way you can keep an eye on its level.

Basement level homes or businesses are notorious for creating financial misfortune. You can’t succeed if you are below ground because the earth energy is cold or “yin.” A closed-in, traditional basement in a home is fine for recreational areas. However, if you have a home or business that has a first floor underground, no remedy is available except for closing the ground floor off and building on the street level.

Homes that are too close to a highway indicate difficulty in maintaining wealth. The energy is too powerful for a home to tolerate. If energy cannot be retained at the site, money will be difficult to keep too. You can retain the energy on the site with retaining walls around the property.

As you can see the location of a building is extremely important in determining the money flow and the overall quality of life for occupants. Our surroundings emit powerful energy that can be both beneficial and difficult. Realize that wherever you are in your life, and regardless of where you have come from, you can always change your life for the better. Use energy in whatever capability you know or have access to and improve your life. The ancients left behind this knowledge for us to use, so use it!

Clean your House, Change your Chi!

Are you feeling stagnant, blase, or needing a little lift?

Next time you feel this way, clean your house and see what happens. You can literally change the vibration or lift the vibration of your house by cleaning and bring in new opportunities quickly. Have you ever walked into a home where things were a little chaotic and in a state of disarray and you felt a little uncomfortable? You know that same feeling you get when you're watching hoarders on television. Or have you walked into a home that was clean, pristine and looked like a museum and you felt really good there? Like when you're watching HGTV and they're doing the grand reveal of the space after they HGTV'd it. Those "feelings" all have to do with the energy in the space.

I self diagnosed myself with a cleaning disorder. Anytime I am stressed, I clean, if I am frustrated, I clean, If I am sad, I clean. Why do you ask, would I do such a foolish thing? Because it makes me feel better. It lifts the vibration of my home, which in turn changes my vibration to a higher one and the end result is a happier gal. Obviously, you don't have to be as obsessive as I am but you get the picture. A little cleaning, goes a long way.

Energy flows from the outside- in and flows from the middle of the house outward in a specific pattern that we Feng Shui people call the " lo shu flight path." When chi is flowing and there's an obstacle in it's way, such as a stack of laundry, boxes, or just a bunch of stuff everywhere, the chi cannot flow uniformly and that's when you may start feeling stagnation, tired, depression, low energy, etc.

Energy brings opportunities for money, relationships and health. When energy is met with an obstacle, it diverts from it's normal path, which in turn takes longer to complete the "lo shu flight path." For example, picture yourself driving along and all of the sudden the light turns read, which in turn forces you to come to a screeching halt. If you were to keep doing this a dozen times, it would eventually take longer for you to get to your destination. Now use that same analogy and picture the energy flow in your home...every time it's halted by an obstacle, it will take that much longer for the opportunities to come in.

By cleaning up after yourself, cleaning the house, clearing away clutter, and keeping your home pristine, these actions will left the energy of your home and the chi will be able to flow freely and effortlessly and this will help bring in more opportunities for money, relationships, and health. Give it a try and see what happens.
