Annual Energies for the Year of the Water Dragon

The year of the Water Dragon begins February 4, 2012 (the Solar/Hsia Calendar). However, the Chinese celebrate it on January 23rd (Lunar Calendar). In the north, the "sickness" energy visits; if you‟re prone to stomach, reproductive, digestive or any other issues in the mid-section of the body place metal there.

In the East, the "travelling and romance" energy visits which is good for romance, scholarly pursuits, writing and travelling. It can also indicate that you will be moving this year. If you have an East facing door, sleep to the East or your home faces the East this will be a good year to meet a new lover and is also good for getting a book published. This excellent, especially if you have your bedroom located in the East. If single, this will give you the opportunity to attract a mate into your life.

The "trouble maker" energy visits the Southeast, in the New Year. This is the worst known energy to visit and if activated indicates problems with money, relationships and health.
This energy is not strong in the Southeast and will only affect individuals with Southeast facing doors, homes or sleeping to the Southeast. It is only recommended that you place metal there if you‟re experiencing difficulties.

The West is visited by the "money" energy, which means it‟ll be a good year to make a lot of money if your home faces west, you have a west facing front door or you‟re sleeping to the west.
The "future money luck" energy visits the Northeast, indicating future wealth, such as non-liquid assets like investments in the stock market, 401 (k), IRA‟s and also indicates career/work related promotions. It also is indicative of celebrations, such as weddings.

The South is visited by more "money" energy which is good for cash flow, intellect and sexual energy. This energy will be especially good for steamy love affairs.

The Southwest is visited by the "fighting" energy and is quite strong this year. If activated this

energy indicates gossiping, fighting, arguments and lawsuits. Place metal in these areas if you‟re experiencing these issues. If not, leave it alone as metal can weaken the prosperity energy.

The Northwest is visited by the "robber and the thief" energy. This indicates that homes that

face the Northwest, or if you live in a home that has an exterior door that faces the Northwest or you are sleeping to the Northwest, it can indicate people not paying you money they owe you, business deals falling through at the last minute, people literally taking from you and health issues that are related to the breast, mouth and teeth. If the overall Feng Shui of your home is good, you will not be affected by this energy.

These energies can be "activated" by having a door located in these sectors, sleeping to these directions, bedrooms located in these sectors, the stove knobs activating these sectors known as the "fire mouth," digging into the earth in these sectors, water features such as pools and fountains, and fire elements such as large televisions, fireplaces or outdoor kitchens.

Apart from annual energies that visit, there are also directions that are considered inauspicious for the year because of the evil influences that they can exert. It is best to not activate these sectors or directions in any way to avoid negative influences in your life, which would affect all aspects of health, wealth and relationships adversely. In 2012, the entire South sector of your home, inside and outside, and the first fifteen degrees of Southwest (202.6-217.5) and the last fifteen degrees of Southeast (142.6-157.5) should not be activated at all. This includes digging up the earth, construction, renovations, additions, water features, or anything that would disturb the ground, like sprinklers. These energies are known as Sam Sart or "three killings."

Also, in 2012, the Northwest (292.6-307.5) is being visited by the Sui Po or "year breaker." It is also advised to not engage in new construction of a building that sits on the Sui Po (the back of the building faces Northwest); it is not good to do any type of construction. The "trouble maker" energy is visiting the Southeast and it is best to leave the Southeast sector of your home, inside and outside, alone this year. The Southeast (112.6-127.5) should not be disturbed as well because the Tai Sui or the "grand duke" visits this sector. It is said that you can sit with your back to this energy but not face it. It is also advised that construction in a building that faces the Tai Sui is not done. This energy is inauspicious and can bring a lot of problems for the owners of the building and the people working on the building, such as injuries and lawsuits.

Do you work hard and find it difficult to hold onto your money?
Consider this: maybe it’s the energy in your home that is depleting your wealth. The modern day world has deprived a lot of us of our inherent birth rights– trusting ourselves. We all have the ability within us to knowwhat is good for us and what is bad. Making sense of where we live has a lot to do with our intuitive “hits” and listening. If it doesn’t feel right, look right or seem right, chances are it probably isn’t going to be.

Our environment is a reflection of where we are in that moment of time. Sometimes people will attract a home or business because they must live out an experience that they need to learn from. At the end of the day, you have everything that you need to ensure that you are well taken care of. By getting quiet, listening and waiting the truth will reveal itself.

Just in case, here’s some examples of properties that may indicate difficulty with money and what you can do:

Extreme slopes or sharp drop-offs on your property indicate unstable money and life. Without the protection of a high retaining wall your wealth will quickly slip away.

Homes that back to a body of water (including a river, like the Los Angeles river), in general, are not beneficial for most occupants. Water is the ultimate wealth secret in Feng Shui. When properly placed it can bring a lot of wealth luck. Improperly placed water, on the other hand, can cause missed opportunities, insolvency, illness, drug addiction, sexual misconduct, scandal and other serious situations. In Feng Shui, the water needs to be seen from the front that way you can keep an eye on its level.

Basement level homes or businesses are notorious for creating financial misfortune. You can’t succeed if you are below ground because the earth energy is cold or “yin.” A closed-in, traditional basement in a home is fine for recreational areas. However, if you have a home or business that has a first floor underground, no remedy is available except for closing the ground floor off and building on the street level.

Homes that are too close to a highway indicate difficulty in maintaining wealth. The energy is too powerful for a home to tolerate. If energy cannot be retained at the site, money will be difficult to keep too. You can retain the energy on the site with retaining walls around the property.

As you can see the location of a building is extremely important in determining the money flow and the overall quality of life for occupants. Our surroundings emit powerful energy that can be both beneficial and difficult. Realize that wherever you are in your life, and regardless of where you have come from, you can always change your life for the better. Use energy in whatever capability you know or have access to and improve your life. The ancients left behind this knowledge for us to use, so use it!

Are you feeling stagnant, blase, or needing a little lift?

Next time you feel this way, clean your house and see what happens. You can literally change the vibration or lift the vibration of your house by cleaning and bring in new opportunities quickly. Have you ever walked into a home where things were a little chaotic and in a state of disarray and you felt a little uncomfortable? You know that same feeling you get when you're watching hoarders on television. Or have you walked into a home that was clean, pristine and looked like a museum and you felt really good there? Like when you're watching HGTV and they're doing the grand reveal of the space after they HGTV'd it. Those "feelings" all have to do with the energy in the space.

I self diagnosed myself with a cleaning disorder. Anytime I am stressed, I clean, if I am frustrated, I clean, If I am sad, I clean. Why do you ask, would I do such a foolish thing? Because it makes me feel better. It lifts the vibration of my home, which in turn changes my vibration to a higher one and the end result is a happier gal. Obviously, you don't have to be as obsessive as I am but you get the picture. A little cleaning, goes a long way.

Energy flows from the outside- in and flows from the middle of the house outward in a specific pattern that we Feng Shui people call the " lo shu flight path." When chi is flowing and there's an obstacle in it's way, such as a stack of laundry,boxes, or just a bunch of stuff everywhere, the chi cannot flow uniformly and that's when you may start feeling stagnation, tired, depression, low energy, etc.

Energy brings opportunities for money, relationships and health. When energy is met with an obstacle, it diverts from it's normal path, which in turn takes longer to complete the "lo shu flight path." For example, picture yourself driving along and all of the sudden the light turns read, which in turn forces you to come to a screeching halt. If you were to keep doing this a dozen times, it would eventually take longer for you to get to your destination. Now use that same analogy and picture the energy flow in your home...every time it's halted by an obstacle, it will take that much longer for the opportunities to come in.

By cleaning up after yourself, cleaning the house, clearing away clutter, and keeping your home pristine, these actions will left the energy of your home and the chi will be able to flow freely and effortlessly and this will help bring in more opportunities for money, relationships, and health. In the south, the “2” energy visits, which indicates health problems. It can particularly affect 2 and 8 Life Gua people and women in the stomach, reproductive organs, and digestive system. Feng Shui and Site Selection

Classical Feng Shui is about living in harmony with the environment. By living in harmony with the environment, people are able to harness the beneficial energies or chi in the environment, to better their lives. Classical Feng Shui encompasses the human experience, which includes wealth, health and relationships. Through hundreds of years of observation, the Chinese discovered dwellings (homes or businesses) that were beneficial to occupants. In doing this research they also discovered, edifices that were destructive and harmful to occupants, making life difficult and in some cases impossible. The Chinese figured out which homes and businesses based on, how it was situated in the environment, the facing direction of the building, the move-in date and the occupant’s birth date would be beneficial and which would be destructive. The Chinese believe that 1/3 of our luck comes from heaven, that which we are born with or predestined, 1/3 of our luck comes from man, by working hard or having good acumen and 1/3 through the earth, which is Feng Shui. Some masters believe that really great Feng Shui will improve your life by 2/3. I tend to agree.

A common misconception about Classical Feng Shui is that professionals in this field use bamboo flutes, paint walls different colors, use mirrors, frogs, coins, and crystals to shift the energy in a home or business. This is false. Chachkis are not powerful enough to shift the energy in a home or business. Much of what is read online, in books, or seen on TV about Feng Shui is Western Feng Shui and it is bogus. This is not how it’s used to secure and enhance wealth, improve health and attract or maintain a relationship.

The best way to implement Feng Shui is to begin the process from the ground up. If you have a raw piece of land, this is the best time to implement Feng Shui. Everything from the facing of the building, to the placement of toilets, stoves, kitchens, bedrooms, laundry rooms, offices, can be customized for the person dwelling in the space to ensure that money, relationships and health thrive. There are special degrees known as Precious Jewel Lines that can be used to set the foundation, doors, stoves, beds, offices, etc. that will bring precious and beautiful things to the occupants. There are special wealth formulas like Five Ghosts Carry Treasure, which can be implemented by tapping a mountain in the environment and placing water in a specific location based on the facing direction of the doors to bring great wealth to the occupants. Many formulas can be created by utilizing the external features of the house or business and setting the driveways, water features, ponds, sidewalks, etc. to special degrees that can speed up good Feng Shui to produce faster results and to create great wealth and harmony.

Donald Trump utilizes these special techniques in all his buildings. Richard Branson, the Virgin mogul, also uses Classical Feng Shui to enhance his wealth. Steve Wynn, the hotel magnet billionaire, in Las Vegas utilizes these wealth producing techniques popular in Southeast Asia, but unknown to many Westerners. Chase Manhattan and Wells Fargo Banks also utilize these methods to increase and secure their wealth. A lot of companies like Disney use these techniques but don’t advertise it because it gives them a competitive advantage.
If building a home or business from the ground up is not feasible, the best alternative is to consult a Classical Feng Shui Consultant before you move-in to a home or office. By consulting a professional beforehand, this ensures that the home or office will support the occupants in all aspects of wealth, health and relationships. It is much easier to pick a good home or business for a person than it is to fix a home or business that has posed nothing but challenges for the individual.

If you are not looking for a new home or business, I would recommend consulting a professional to ensure that your existing space is well placed inside and out to secure and enhance wealth, to protect and improve relationships and to boost and increase good health. Feng Shui can always be used to turn a situation around, prevent a negative situation from occurring, and strengthen a positive situation.

Feng Shui can be employed in countless ways to help improve the lives of individuals. In ancient China, Feng Shui was reserved for royalty and the very rich because of its powerful influences on the human experience. It wasn’t until Master Yang, the savior of the poor, that it was introduced to the general public. Today, many are aware of Feng Shui, but few know of “real” Feng Shui, secrets that the movers and shakers and the truly rich use.

Inauspicious directions to dig, renovate, construct, build or activate:

• This includes sprinklers, spas, pools, home renovation, etc. Every year there are certain directions that you cannot disrupt because it disturbs the magnetic energy of the earth. For example, the full moon affects the tides in the ocean. It's the same concept with the earth’s magnetic energy except it affects the land around it. Disturbing this energy can cause divorce, money issues, scandals, etc.:

• All of the SW because of the 5 yellow
• 3k in the entire north and first fifteen degrees of northeast and last fifteen degrees of northwest.
• Year breaker in the the last fifteen degrees of the southwest
• Grand duke in the last fifteen degrees of the northeast
• For example if have a door that faces SW, need to use a wind chime as a counter measure. However, if the prosperity star is visiting leave it alone.
• If need to do something in one of these sectors you need to use the great sun formula for special dates to ensure a good result.

With all the recent news on famous celebrities cheating on their spouses, I figured this blog was in order. By using a Chinese compass called a Luo Pan to determine the facing of the building and finding out the move-in date of the occupants, an assessment can easily be made as to what type of energy is prevalent. This determines the natal energy chart for the home or business and it shows what energy patterns in the home are present and if the “peach blossom” energy is there. In the home or office to determine if affairs are prevalent, the peach blossom or peach blossom sha energy has to be present. A “peach blossom” is what the Chinese call a beautiful woman. It also relates to romance and sexual energy. This energy is wonderful for cultivating new relationships and strengthening existing ones. However, too much water; low ground or a road situated on the “peach blossom” energy can be detrimental to the occupants and turn relationships sour. Another serious negative formation that can wreak havoc in the lives of individuals in known as a “peach blossom sha” this is when a road or real water is in conflict with the direction that the door faces. This negative formation can indicate incest, salacious love affairs, scandals, soiling the reputation of the person and bankruptcy.

For example, if the building faces pure north, specifically 352.5-7.5 degrees and there’s a road, real water or a ditch in pure west (262.5-277.5 degrees) this indicates that there could be affairs, scandals, incestuous energy or bankruptcy. Roads and water are purveyors of energy. How the home or business is situated in the environment dictates the quality of life that the occupants will have. This is true because humans are pure energy and so is the environment around us. The quality of energy that comes to your site is determined by how roads come to your home or business, how mountains are situated in proximity to your home or business and if there is any water, small or big, that is being activated in the environment.

Peach blossom sha formations can easily be remedied by changing the angle of the door. This changes how energy comes to the site. By having the door re-angled to specific degrees, this will take the person out of this negative formation and change the quality of life in the home or business.

A client of mine was living in a home where she divorced because her husband had an affair. Her house faced the last fifteen degrees in the southwest and there was a pool in the southeast. She moved in after 2004. This indicated affairs because in this particular energy chart in the southeast the “peach blossom” energy was prevalent. The placement of the pool in this sector is too much energy for the “peach blossom” to handle and this is why an affair ensued. The sleeping direction also indicated affairs. I knew her husband had initiated the affair because she never liked that home to begin with and wasn’t comfortable in the sleeping direction she was in. When I asked her why she stayed in the home and slept in that direction, she responded by saying it was her husband’s idea and she went along with it.

This tells me two things: first, the home mirrors the subconscious; second, the home never reflected who she truly was. Her husband was intent on moving into a home where he could “pull” from the negative energy that he needed so that he would be able to act accordingly. This is all on the subconscious level of course. Sometimes when people want to do something but don’t necessarily have the courage to, they will move into a space that supports their endeavors, good or bad and pull from that energy to complete their subconscious desires.

Feng Shui is a powerful modality that can help people with all aspects of the human experience. A home or business reveals all aspects of a person’s life. It divulges the entire person’s triumphs as well as challenges. The wonderful thing about energy or chi is that it can be changed or redirected to support the occupant’s endeavors. It is said that Feng Shui can improve your life by one third; the other one thirds is heaven luck and another one third is man luck which is attributed to working hard and having good acumen. Many Feng Shui master believes that really good Feng Shui can improve your life by two thirds. I tend to agree. I have seen what some may call “miraculous” results but really is a natural manifestation of the environment when properly “tapped” to bring about greater wealth, health and relationships. The Interior State of Affairs

In Classical Feng Shui, there are telltale signs of energetic disharmony within the home. Without knowing the energetic reading or natal chart of the home or office, a lot of information can still be derived. The following features in a home or office are known to create discord:

• If there are mirrors in the bedroom and you can see yourself when you sleep this tends to cause fighting and bickering between mates and insomnia.
• If you have wall paper in the bedroom that is too loud or too bright, it will be difficult to get restful sleep. A more “yin” or calming environment is needed in the bedroom.
• Sleeping under horizontal beams that are too close to a person causes problems with the meridian of the body that the beam is covering (i.e. if the beam is above your heart, this can indicate heart problems).
• A bed next to a window or exposed to too much light will often cause sleeplessness. It is best to use black-out drapes to ensure restfulness.
• Stairs too close to the front door may affect the “good luck” of the occupants. The energy has nowhere to collect when entering the front door except for going up the stairs. Staircases should be at least 10 ft. away from the door.
• Stairs that have open risers leak out beneficial chi. It is best to have enclosed stairs so that the chi can travel uniformly and give good luck to the occupants.
• The Chinese believe that a spiral staircase “pierces the earth from heaven,” creating a corkscrew effect. Add light at the top of the staircase to send the energy back to “heaven.”
• More than one set of stairs on the same floor is considered “competing chi.” They should be on opposite sides of the house.
• The bathroom and laundry room should never be located in the center of the house because this indicates kidney and blood problems.
• If a staircase is located in the center of the house, this indicates back, spine and joint problems.
• Homes with split-levels (2-5), not a traditional two story home, indicate that the family is separated, thinking is confused and the life in general is disjointed.

Energetic harmony, whether it be in a home or office, begins with the actual structure and it's relationship to the environment. Picking a home or office based on the physical features is as important as picking it for it's energetic prowess. A home or office must be properly situated, inside and out, as well as have a good energetic chart. One cannot exist without the other.

The Importance of the Kitchen

The rule for kitchens is the bad, bad, good theory. The first bad is that the kitchen should be located in one of your four negative directions. The reason being is because it'll burn up the negative chi in that sector. Another bad is that the stove should "press" down on a negative sector. What does that mean? That means that the back of the stove should be going to one of your four negative sectors. The good part is that the stove knobs should activate one of your four good sectors. For example, I am a 9 Gua. My four good directions are north, south, east and southeast. My four negative directions are west, southwest, northeast and northwest. My stove should "press" down (or the back of the stove should face) west, southwest, northeast or northwest. My knobs should face north, south, east or southeast. The last good is that the energy which the stove sits on and activates should be good.

Another tip is that kitchens should never be in the center of homes this indicates high blood pressure and heart related problems. Also, stove tops should never be on an island for these same reasons.

The kitchen is a big indicator of health, wealth and relationship issues. This is one of the most important aspects of the home that needs to be remedied and ensured is properly placed.

Formations That Affect Wealth, Health and Relationships

Feng Shui is all about energy. We are energy. Where we dwell has it's own energy. Feng Shui is about how we are affected by the energy in our environment, specifically in areas where we spend the most amount of time like where we live, sleep and work. Feng Shui encompasses all aspects of the human experience which includes wealth, health and relationships.

The main purveyors of energy are roads, paths, sidewalks, bodies of water (ocean, river, lake, etc.), and mountains (actual and virtual-buildings). Much consideration is given to the external environment because it's not everyday that you can pick up a mountain or a road and move it. The energy of the earth/land is so powerful that it can enhance the human experience or devastate it. The following negative formations make the human experience difficult:

• Extreme slopes or sharp drop-offs on your property indicate unstable money and life.
• T-junctures or T-roads(as indicated the picture)create an overabundance of energy causing the occupants to experience discord, money loss, divorce, accidents and other mishaps.
• A house built on a top of a mountain is vulnerable to the elements. People who occupy these types of properties are susceptible to corporate takeovers, infidelity, financial ruin, and underhanded business partners and employees.
• Roads that are higher than the roof of a home indicate financial difficulty. These homes are vulnerable to cars losing control and ending up on their house.

Could it be possible that where we live work or sleep affect our lives in a positive or negative way? Have you noticed that some shopping centers have continious grand openings for different businesses but none of those businesses ever stay? Have you ever worked or live in a place where you felt sapped of your energy and there was constant dilemmas and dramas? Or on the flip side, have you ever been in someone's home or in an office where everything felt incredibly comfortable and everything you touched seemed to turn to gold.

These occurences are not coincidental. They are a real phenomena that can be attributed to an unseen energy in the environment; an energy that affects us on a daily basis that most of us are unaware. Sometimes depending on specific pivotal moments in our evolving lives, we awaken. In that awakening we begin to see connections between the various influences of our physical environment. Various elements in our environment such as building orientation, sleeping direction, the direction we face while at work, to name a few, affect each of us differently. All edifices are unique just as all people are unique. What may bring fortune and fortitude to one person may not bring the same to someone else; this is a very important concept when learning about the factors that permeate our daily lives. The structure in an office or edifice will support each person differently. Nonetheless, the energy influences in in our surrounding are a very real and tangible force in our lives, and they can easily affect all aspects of health, wealth and relationships.

Energetically, we are affected by different environments positively or negatively. Your home tells a story so profound that any visitor who steps foot in your home can feel it on an unconscious level. It's not necessary to know what the occupants have gone through to know that you don't like the way a home feels. Your home is a powerful form of energy that supports you or makes it difficult to thrive. Every person's energy is as different and unique, as edifices. One home may be supporting and flourishing for one person and have the adverse affect on another. The most important aspect in getting your home sold is to make sure that energetically your home follows the basic tenets of Classical Feng Shui.

First, the landforms need to be correct. What does this mean? The home needs to be supported on all sides, including the back of the home for the occupants to thrive. For example, being nestled in between two homes, having a retaining wall in the back and a white picket fence in the front or any other appropriate landscaping will ensure this. The Chinese used symbolic animals to represent this special and very important formation. This formation is called the celestial animals; I refer to them as the celestial brat pack. Basically, in order for occupants to flourish in a home or office all sides of the building need to be embraced or protected by another building, wall, landscaping or any other appropriate enclosure to secure the occupants and eliminate any vulnerability, as shown in the picture.

Second, the front door needs to be a positive energy magnet. The front door denotes how energy is received; this is indicative of how it's supporting you and everyone else walking through the door. If the front door has negative energy, this means that you're not being properly supported and usually indicates several negative events that will happen or have happened. A compass reading can determine the type of energy present. There are many remedies that can be used to redirect or change the negative energy of the front door. Chances are that if the energy is negatively supporting you, it will have the same affect on others. Hence, no one wants to buy someone else's problems. Consumers are very savvy these days. They can easily sense issues the minute they walk in a home and if it doesn't feel good to them...Guess what? They're not going to buy your home.

Third, the arrangement of your furniture will intentionally or inadvertently tap into positive or negative energy, known as chi-life force energy, that can have a constructive or adverse affect on the occupants of the home. It is important when dwelling in a residence that furniture is specifically placed in line with the positive energy patterns of the home. This allows the occupants to receive beneficial chi by activating such amiable sectors. Depending on the sectors activated it can have a positive effect on all aspects of wealth, health and relationships. On the flip side, if the furniture is not properly arranged, it can indicate the opposite is true.

These are simple, yet profound basic tenets that can be followed to ensure a successful sale of your home. These are one of many techniques I use to ensure that my client's home gets sold. When I consult with a client, I utilize these basic principles and I take into consideration, the date of occupancy, the occupant's birth date and the orientation of the building. This allows me to get a clear understanding of the type of energy present in the home and the different steps needed to improve the energy pattern and get the home sold. Each home I visit, presents a new set of challenges that I embrace and look forward to. After all, Feng Shui is about enhancing the human experience so that people can flourish in all areas of wealth, health and relationships.
